DIY Headboard

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

This only my second post since my engagement and my first in two months. OH how I have MISSED the blog world! Matthew and I are 17 days away from being Mr. & Mrs. Tyler and  with all the details left to take care of, the one thing on my mind is our bed. I was told by my mom's good friend that the bedroom is the first room you decorate, settle into, and make homey and a safe haven from life stresses. Any bride wants to make her marriage bed beautiful and with our lovely comforter coming from pottery barn, there is no reason why it should be out haven! My next project, with the help of a friend, will be to make a head board for our bed. Here are a few ideas that I like.

  1. Natalie, I SO agree with you. When we moved into our house I didn't care if the rest of the house was still boxed chaos, but I wanted our bedroom complete and homey...as a safe haven for sanity :)

And funnily enough (is that a word?) I'm working on my making a headboard too! I'm just doing 3/4" plywood, 2" foam, batting, then decorating fabric. I've completed enough projects in the last five months that I'm going simply/lazy on this one :)

  4. The first picture is pretty cute. I made a headboard just last week and it was easier than I thought. I used the tutorial from Young House Love. Here are the results:

  5. Hey Natalie! We totally did the same thing, I mean our bedroom isn't really finished by a long shot, but it's definitely the room I'm most happy with (in our teeny tiny apartment). We made a headboard from an old door we got off Craigslist (I'm pretty sure the people who we bought it from were Hoarders...) We didn't have all the right tools and just kind of made things up as we went along, but all in all it took less than a day (plus painting) and we're really happy with it. I think there are pictures on my facebook. Anyways, hope the next few days aren't too stressful for you, I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful!!
