Homemade Granola Recipe

one stick of butter
half cup of honey
four cups old fashioned oats
1 cup snowflake coconut
1 1/4 cups almonds, sliced and slivered
1 1/4 cups chopped pecans
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup dried cranberries
3/4 cups raisins, regular and golden
1/2 cup chopped dates

combine honey and butter. melt in microwave

combine next six ingredients ; toss with honey and butter

bake in a heavy (deep) pan at 275 for about 75 minutes. stir every 15 minutes

place in large bowl and add fruit. cool and store in airtight container

  1. Kellie made some last year but it was not as sweet as I like it. However, this recipe seems too sweet! I love granola but also hate this 30lbs I need to lose!

  2. The honey and stuff is soaked up over a huge batch so it really doesn't taste overly sweet. Matthew isn't much on really sweet things and he LOVED it. We had some for breakfast this morning. I just used Crasins- not the raisins too because I didn't have any. I think that will help with the sweet. Maybe add more nuts and less coconut too. Hope that helps!
